SA Coaching Great Jan Stirling Inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame

SMA-SA would like to congratulate Jan Stirling on her induction into the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame. Jan represented Australia as a player, including consecutive Halls Medals at Forestville and North Adelaide in 1981-82, and as a coach.
Jan coached the Adelaide Lightning for 12 years in which they won 4 Championships, including 3 in a row between 1994 - 1996. During her time coaching the Lightning they never missed the playoffs. Jan was appointed the Opals coach after the 2000 Olympics taking the team to a bronze at the 2002 world championship, then to silver at the Athens Olympics. Two years later at the world championship, she steered Australia to the gold medal.
Jan Stirling always wanted those she coaches to come out the other side as better people and the same can be said for her attitude towards her staff here at SMA-SA. Jan is an inspiration to all and we are grateful to have her leading our team here at SMA-SA.
