SASMA is proud to announce its involvement in the Women in Sport Summit (WISS) 2026, taking place at Adelaide Oval from 19-22 October 2026.
Now in its ninth year, the Women in Sport Summit has become one of Australia’s leading industry events, bringing together executives, investors, athletes, coaches, sports scientists and decision-makers who are driving the continued growth and success of women’s sport.
Under the theme “The Power Shift”, the summit explores the opportunities, challenges and innovations shaping women’s sport across participation, performance, leadership and commercial development.
As a long-standing advocate for athlete health, performance and safe sporting environments, SASMA is excited to contribute to a program designed to influence the future of sport at every level.

Supporting the Next Generation Through Futures Day
SASMA’s involvement begins with Futures Day, which will welcome more than 800 Year 10-12 students for a day focused on inspiring future leaders across the sporting industry.
As part of the program, SASMA will present:
- What is Sports Medicine?
This session will introduce students to the diverse and rewarding field of sports medicine, highlighting the range of professionals who work together to support athlete health, wellbeing and performance. - Interactive Sports Taping Workshop
Students will gain hands-on experience learning practical sports taping techniques and exploring the important role taping plays in injury management and injury prevention within sport.
Contributing to the High-Performance Forum
The High-Performance Forum brings together elite coaches, athletes, sport scientists and performance professionals to discuss the latest developments in high-performance sport.
SASMA will present:
- Concussion in Sport: Recognition, Management and the Future
This session will examine current best practice in concussion recognition and management, while also exploring emerging research and future directions in athlete care. As concussion awareness continues to evolve across all levels of sport, understanding how to identify and appropriately manage these injuries remains a critical priority for sporting organisations and practitioners.
Leading Discussions on Medical Governance
As part of the Leadership Summit, which connects executives, governing bodies, government representatives, brands and industry leaders, SASMA will facilitate an important discussion on:
- Medical Governance in Sport
Strong medical governance frameworks are essential to ensuring athlete welfare remains at the centre of decision-making. This session will explore the structures, responsibilities and best-practice approaches that support safe, ethical and effective healthcare delivery within sporting organisations.
Building Meaningful Industry Connections
The summit will conclude with a Post-Summit Experience, providing attendees with additional opportunities to continue conversations, share knowledge and develop meaningful professional relationships across the sporting sector.
