SASMA Selected to Present at International Concussion Conference

SASMA’s Statewide Community Concussion program has been recognised and been accepted to present at the upcoming International Concussion in Sport Conference (ISCC) 2026, being held in Melbourne this September.          

The invitation represents significant recognition of SASMA’s leadership in concussion education and safer sport initiatives across South Australia, particularly through the State Government-supported Community Concussion Education Program.

The International Concussion in Sport Conference is one of the world’s leading forums for concussion research, education and policy development, bringing together internationally recognised clinicians, researchers and sporting leaders to share the latest evidence and best practice approaches in concussion management.

SASMA’s presentation will feature as part of the conference’s Blitz Talks session on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, alongside presentations from respected experts in concussion research and athlete health.

Danielle Grant-Cross, CEO, will present:

“Sideline Safety: Developing and Delivering a Statewide Community Concussion Education Program”

The presentation will showcase the development, delivery and impact of SASMA’s statewide concussion education initiative, which has helped improve awareness, understanding and management of concussion across community sport settings throughout South Australia.

The session will be chaired by internationally recognised concussion researcher Professor Carolyn Emery, and will also include presentations from:

  • Sarah LampardInsights into concussion knowledge, perceptions, reporting intentions and behaviours in community Australian Football
  • Emma WarnerNovel balance and gait modifications for assessment of concussion in para-athletes

The acceptance of SASMA’s presentation highlights the success of the program and reinforces South Australia’s position as a leader in community sport safety and concussion awareness.
