Uni Ed 1: The role of Strength and Conditioning in Allied Health

Ben Haines, Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach at the South Australian Sports Institute working with the Volleyball Australia and Rowing programs, will run this practical workshop aimed at Allied Health students covering the basics of strength and conditioning programs and how allied health practitioners can apply these in their clinics.

 The session will cover the following:

·        Basics of programming in early injury stage and at return to sport time

·        How S+C and allied health staff work together with a team and/or with individual athletes

·        Common technical faults during common gym/rehab exercises

·        Practical component involving lifting techniques (Power or Olympic lifts)

This workshop will commence with a lecture followed by a hands on session in the SASI gym so participants need to come dressed to participate. 

Places are limited to just 20 due to the practical nature of the session. Places will be assigned on a first in best dressed basis.
