Looking forward to 2023

Following a successful 2022 we are excited for what is to come in 2023. Both our Professional and Sports Trainer Conferences are scheduled for early in the year and we hope to build on the momentum from 2022. We will also see a more focused Education Program for Professional members and Sports Trainers tailored by our new Education Working Party.

Key dates, stakeholders and focus areas;

  • Sunday 19th February @ Payneham Library and Community Facility
  • Sunday 5th March – Sports Medicine Conference + SASMA AGM
  • Sports Medicine in General Practice Course - TBC

We look forward to our involvement in the Tour Down Under January 13-22 with our sports trainers covering 54 timeslots and Dr Mark Fisher managing the Men's Race and Dr Kevyn Hernandez managing the Women's Race. We have developed close working relationships with the Flinders University, Uni SA, Adelaide University, Australian College of Chiropractors and look forward to delivering the Level 1 Sports Trainers Course to students. We will also work closely with schools with trainers and community education courses and with the Limestone Coast Sports Academy and the Limestone Coast Local Government Association. Special mention of the National Masters Games coming to Adelaide later in the 2023 which we will be supporting.

Our focus is on Tertiary students, growing student membership, general membership, growing presenter and sports trainer numbers, schools and regional education.

We thank the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing for their continued support, along with major sponsor Maxiplast IDM Sports. We thank stakeholders who supported certain events  throughout the year, Sportsmed, Wakefield Orthopaedic Clinic, Wakefield Sports and Exercise Medicine Clinic, Dr’s Health SA and many wineries for the Gala Dinner Balnaves of Coonawarra, Golding Adelaide Hills, Hey Diddle Wines, Raidis Estate Coonawarra, Samuel’s Gorge, Shaw & Smith, Vineyard Road, Vinteloper, Yangarra Estate as well as contributions from Chris Wellington and James Altmann.
