2017 FAST Conference Keynote Speaker

SASMA is proud to present Jane Woodlands-Thompson as Keynote Speaker for the 2017 Fitness and Sports Trainers (FAST) Conference.


Jane is currently the Head of Sport and Athletic Development at Westminster School, a Specialist Coach for the Northern Mystics and Assistant Coach to the Australian Fast 5’s.


In 1990 Jane started her education career at Westminster School. During her 16 years at the school Jane taught Physical Education to all levels from Reception to Year 12.


In 2006 Jane received an Australian Sports Commission Coaching scholarship which allowed her to switch from education to full time sport. During this time Jane completed a Master’s Degree in Applied Science (Coaching), worked with the South Australian Sports Institute Netball Program and co-produced Netball Australia’s ‘Long Term Athlete Development’ Manual.


In 2008 Jane was appointed Head Coach to the Adelaide Thunderbirds. During her eight years in this role Jane led the team to two Premierships and made a name for herself as one of the most successful coaches in the ANZ Championship. In 2010 & 2013 Jane was awarded the Australian Sports Commission’s Coach of the Year accolade. During Jane’s time as Head coach, she was also the General Manager of High Performance at Netball SA. In addition to this Jane was the Assistant Coach to the Australian Diamonds in 2008.


Jane has recently become a part of the Football Community with her appointment to the Adelaide Football Club Women’s Football Advisory Committee and in March this year Jane also joined the SA Football Commission.
